KMA/KBA WEBSITE I’m sure some of you have noticed that the webpage has been acting silly recently.  We have been forced to changed hosting, as a result the page has required a total rebuild and we have had outages in our emails.  We are currently working hard to get this back up and running and apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.  We are hoping to have this issue totally resolved in the next couple of weeks. STATE BOD We all hear talk about the ‘State BOD’ and ‘BOD Meetings’, so what exactly is a KMA State BOD?  The Kentucky Motorcycle Association Board of Directors is made up of 6 State Officers: President – Tommy Williams VP of Legislation – David Newman VP of Membership – Bobbi Lockwood Treasurer – Lisa Fischer Secretary – David Owen Sargent At Arms – DJ Miller Also making that board is representatives from each district/chapter.  Each districts Director & Vice Director are members of the BOD.  In the Director and/or Vice Directors absence, any elected officer of that district can sit in and be that districts representative on the BOD.:   KMA PAC FUND Last month in the newsletter we explained to you what the PAC Fund was and how it’s used.  The next question is, have you ever utilized the PAC Fund?  If the answer is no, then WHY NOT?  Our job as representatives of bikers across the state is to be visible to lawmakers as a driving force on motorcyclist laws and rights.  We do this by being visible as much as we possibly can, Lincoln Dinners, Fund raisers, etc.  Keep your ears open and listen for any political events happing in your area, then give Tommy a call and we will see what we can do about getting you the funds so you can represent KMA to your politicians! Call To Action We still need members calling their Representatives. We must stay vigilant on this and push this through!  We will be going to Frankfort Tuesday to meet with lawmakers, but we need you calling to request support. There’s a huge chance that this Call to Action may change in the coming week, please keep a close eye on your email for detail on what we need. RIDERS 101 TIPS With spring coming quickly it’s about time to dust of those bikes and oil up the leathers.  But before you prep the bike, be sure and take the time out to brush up on some of the basics.  Find you a quiet parking lot and use the empty parking spaces to practice tight turns.  This is something experienced riders tend to overlook, but we could ALL use the practice on slow turns!  And it’s much better to lay it down in a quite parking lot than on a ride with all the crew that will never let you live it down!  Remember, foot on the peg and focus, shoulders and view the direction you are going! KMA PAC FUND I’m sure you have all herd people talking about the PAC Fund.  We’ve gotta raise money for….  we have to donate to….  Do you know what the PAC Fund is and how it works?  PAC stands for Political Action Committee, and that committee has funds that it uses to promote causes that KMA find important.  From those funds we send members to political events such as fundraisers for candidates to Lincoln/Reagan Dinners and much more.  So while this money is donated to the PAC Fund, it does come back to benefit our members and the group as a whole.
