A motorcyclist from Texas Riders Association II named Bill 'Sputnik' Strain created a simple plan as an outline to show how we can make a difference. It has become known as “The 5 Steps of Freedom”. These are 5 simple steps that we all should do to make a difference in our town, county, state and country that we live in!

Local, County and even State elections have been decided by as little as 1 vote! In 2019 the race for State Representative for the 13th District ended in a tie. Both candidates received 6,323 votes, so EVERY vote matters! YOUR VOTE DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!

Call, email, write letters, etc. to your representatives! They don’t know how you feel or even who you are if you don’t take the time to reach out to them!

If you want to gain access to law makers, working a campaign is a great way to open doors. They are always looking for volunteers to help and they will usually remember those that have helped!

Get Involved with the political parties! Most all parties (Republican Party, Democratic Party, etc.) have local and state committee’s that do things from fund raisers, dinners to political rallies. This is a great way to network with local likeminded people and with the candidates.

RUN FOR OFFICE! 90% of office holders started off JUST LIKE YOU, people who were interested in making a difference. They ran for office and started just like that. It doesn’t take a special college degree or education to run for office, just a desire to make a difference.
